WHAT IS BELGRADE BIENNALE 2027?
Belgrade Biennale 2027 is an international art project organised by the Belgrade Cultural Association, bringing together artists, galleries, curators, collectors and cultural professionals from different countries.
The programme will include a series of events in Belgrade, presenting selected contemporary artworks and creating opportunities for international artistic and professional exchange.
The project will culminate with the Grand Art Auction in Bologna, Italy, connecting the Belgrade exhibition programme with the international art market.
SELECTION PROCESS
All applications are reviewed by the Selection Commission of the Belgrade Cultural Association.
Submission of an application does not constitute acceptance.
Selected artists will receive official confirmation and further participation instructions.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Artists may participate with a minimum of 7 artworks and a maximum of 10 artworks.
PAINTINGS AND PHOTOGRAPHY
• Artwork up to 60 × 80 cm — €50 per artwork
• Artwork over 60 × 80 cm and up to 100 × 140 cm — €75 per artwork
Artworks larger than 100 × 140 cm are not accepted.
If an artist brings an artwork larger than the permitted size, the artwork will not be exhibited or transported.
SCULPTURES
• Up to 50 cm, maximum 7 kg — €50 per sculpture
• Over 50 cm and up to 70 cm, maximum 15 kg — €75 per sculpture
Sculptures larger than 70 cm or heavier than 15 kg are not accepted because we cannot safely transport them.
THE PARTICIPATION FEE INCLUDES
• ARTWORK INSURANCE during the organised programme and transport
• TRANSPORT OF ARTWORKS from the artist’s arrival in Belgrade, during the Belgrade Biennale programme, and from Belgrade to Bologna
• OFFICIAL PRINTED CATALOGUE of the Belgrade Biennale & Grand Art Auction
The catalogue will present ALL ARTWORKS SELECTED FOR THE AUCTION, with a photograph of each artwork and its STARTING AUCTION PRICE.
Starting auction prices are determined by the Selection Commission of the Belgrade Cultural Association.
AUCTION SALES AGREEMENT
Artists whose artworks are selected for the Grand Art Auction will receive a separate AUCTION SALES AGREEMENT during the participation process.
The agreement will explain the conditions of sale, payment and other details connected with the auction.
TRAVEL FROM BELGRADE TO BOLOGNA
Optional organised bus transportation:
Belgrade – Bologna: €120 per person
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is not included in the participation fee.
Artists who would like BCA to help organise accommodation in Belgrade and/or Bologna should contact the Belgrade Cultural Association.
FAQ
HOW CAN ARTISTS PARTICIPATE IN THE BELGRADE AND BOLOGNA PROGRAMME?
The programme is designed to offer artists different forms of participation within the Belgrade Biennale and the Grand Art Auction in Bologna.
Artists may participate in the Belgrade Biennale, the Grand Art Auction in Bologna, or both parts of the programme, depending on the decision of the Selection Commission.
In certain cases, and only with prior approval of the Selection Commission, artworks may be sent without the artist attending every part of the programme personally.
CAN ARTISTS PARTICIPATE ONLY IN THE GRAND ART AUCTION IN BOLOGNA?
Yes.
Many artists are expected to participate primarily in the Grand Art Auction in Bologna.
Participation in the auction is subject to selection and agreement with the Selection Commission.
CAN BCA HELP WITH ACCOMMODATION?
Yes.
BCA can help artists find affordable accommodation in Belgrade, usually around €40 per night, subject to availability.
Accommodation is paid separately and is not included in the participation fee.
HOW ARE AUCTION PRICES DETERMINED?
Starting auction prices are determined by the Selection Commission.
Artworks are generally divided into two auction categories:
• €700 and above — the main auction category, including the majority of artworks
• €1,500 and above — selected works for the VIP Auction
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY ARTWORK IS SOLD?
After payment by the buyer, the artist is responsible for delivering or shipping the sold artwork to the buyer.
The auction sale price is distributed as follows:
70% — Artist
20% — Organiser
10% — Donation to the House of Marco Polo cultural project
Detailed conditions will be defined in the Auction Sales Agreement.
WHAT HAPPENS TO UNSOLD ARTWORKS?
Unsold artworks remain the property of the artist.
The artist is responsible for taking back or arranging the return of unsold artworks after the programme.
WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?
December 4, 2026 — 23:59 CET
* Following the closing of the Open Call, the Belgrade Cultural Association may invite a limited number of artists to participate directly in the programme.

INTERNATIONAL ART PROJECTS BY
BELGRADE CULTURAL ASSOCIATION
Belgrade Cultural Association has developed international cultural projects bringing together artists, curators, galleries and cultural professionals from Serbia and abroad.
Through exhibitions, art salons, cultural exchanges and international collaborations, BCA has created a platform for dialogue between artists, institutions and different cultural environments.
Belgrade Biennale 2027 continues this international programme on a larger scale, connecting Belgrade with Bologna through an international exhibition, curatorial programme and the Grand Art Auction.

Arrival of artists. Representatives of the Belgrade Cultural Association will wait you at the Belgrade Airport “Nikola Tesla”, Belgrade, Serbia. Framing of the artworks;

GRAND ART AUCTION – BOLOGNA, ITALY
The Grand Art Auction welcomes artists, art dealers, collectors, buyers and the general public.
The selection will include a wide range of contemporary artworks, from accessible pieces for new collectors, through mid-range works, to outstanding examples of modern and contemporary art.
The auction is conceived as an open meeting point between artists and the art market, creating opportunities for discovery, collecting and professional exchange.
10% of the proceeds from the Grand Art Auction will be dedicated to the House of Marco Polo cultural project.
